    Compensation:
    Annual Salary is $43,000. Housing on Historic Cane Hill campus is provided.

    Position Description

    Historic Cane Hill, Inc. is seeking an experienced Public Programs Manager to work collaboratively with a small staff to carry out the mission and expand public outreach. The Public Programs Manager will develop, implement and coordinate educational programs and activities for various audiences, including adults, teens, children and families. Specific responsibilities include oversight for on-site and off-site public programming.

    • Work with planning consultant team to align programming opportunities related to planning areas.
    • Manage the development, implementation, and evaluation of family, adults’ and children’s on-site and off-site programs offered throughout the year, including but not limited to historic site tours, programming related to museum collections, gallery exhibitions, programming around special exhibitions, and programming during annual Cane Hill Harvest Festival.
    • Create public programs to increase visitorship, engage audiences, and expand learning opportunities for visitors.
    • Identify and cultivate partnership opportunities throughout the Northwest Arkansas community that support the Historic Cane Hill’s educational programming and mission, including, but not limited to schools, community organizations, artists, and educators.
    • Build and manage volunteer program, including recruitment, training, activity development and scheduling.
    • Work with the Executive Director to develop annual budget for managed programs and manage expenses throughout the year
    • Oversee program preparation, including scheduling speakers, performers, and educators, and coordinating supply orders.
    • Reporting to Executive Director and working with Director of Arts & Culture, create visitor-facing communications, including listings and schedules for programs, and contribute to press and social media to promote public programs.
    • Maintain program attendance and evaluation records for reporting purposes
    • Manage programs including content development, purchasing, registration, staffing and program delivery
    • Develop and teach a variety of educational programs for diverse audiences.
    • Collaborate with and support other staff members.
    • Other projects and duties, as assigned, to support the goals and mission of Historic Cane Hill.

    Programs goals include:

    • Increasing visitorship and expanding audiences, with a particular focus on engaging families, students, and adults in Northwest Arkansas;
    • Creating deeper connections to local and regional history, arts, culture and nature programs grounded in the Historic Cane Hill’s exhibits and collection;
    • Reflecting the diverse cultures of Arkansas; and,
    • Broadening intergenerational learning opportunities for children teens, and families.
    Required Qualifications:
    • A passion for creating joyful learning and cultural experiences.
    • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in history, arts, or related education content area
    • Minimum two years’ experience in informal education, including program coordination and development.
    • Familiarity with Arkansas school curriculum standards
    • Experience working with adults and families
    • Weekend availability required plus some evening and holiday work as needed

    Other skills, abilities and/or competencies required:

    • Positive, outgoing disposition with enthusiasm for Arkansas history, arts, and nature subject matter
    • Highly motivated self-starter able to work independently and see projects through to completion
    • Able to work in a high-energy, fast-paced environment
    • Flexibility and a willingness to help out as needed
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Comfortable with communicating a wide variety of subjects to diverse audiences
    • Ability to conduct research and learn new information quickly
    • Excellent customer service skills
    • Able to manage multiple tasks and projects
    • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills
    • Ability to stand and/or move for extended periods of time, inside and outside.
    • Ability and willingness to lift up to 20 lbs.
    • Preferred: Ability to speak fluently and write in a second language, Spanish preferred.

    Schedule:
    This role supports the Historic Cane Hill Museum and Gallery Wednesday and Thursday and every other Friday and Saturday, requires weekend work, and is subject to change with seasonal needs.
