    $25/hour
    up to 30 hours each week
    (hours must be on site M-F, 8-5)

    DART is seeking a temporary employee for experienced professional archivist services. The personnel will conduct appraisal, processing, and cataloging services of born-digital and physical items. This position requires on-site work primarily at DART’s headquarters in downtown Dallas. Occasional work at other DART locations may be necessary to appraise and collect items of interest from different departments for the Archive.

    Personnel Experience Requirements:

    · MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution with a concentration in archives OR equivalent

    · Minimum 2-3 years of experience working on archive projects, ideally with special collections or government agencies

    · Proven experience appraising, processing, and cataloging born-digital and physical collection materials for long-term storage

    Experience in Special Collections is a plus

    · Excellent written and oral communication skills

    · Attention to detail critical

    · Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

    · Ability to skim and understand an extensive and varied range of material from across the organization

    Contractor responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    · Update the accession log, finding aid, and project schedule as needed to accurately reflect the project’s status.

    · Create transfer forms to document the transfer of items from the relevant department or individual to the Archive.

    · Work directly with the Records Manager and relevant department contacts to access on-site and off-site records to appraise for accession to the Archive.

    · House items, both digital and physical, appropriately and in accordance with the processing plan and industry standards. If items are damaged or otherwise compromised in any way, the Contractor will discuss possible remedies with the Records Manager.

    · Create detailed indexes of items accessioned to the Archive to guarantee the usability of the finding aid for future reference purposes.
