    Description of Project

The University of Houston Libraries seeks a Project Archivist with knowledge and experience in the practices of arrangement, description, and preservation of archives and manuscripts to process the Margo Grant Walsh Papers. The Project Archivist will perform processing of records in diverse formats for the Libraries’ Special Collections department, which holds primary source collections of distinction that support teaching, learning, and scholarship on campus and globally.

Margo Grant Walsh established the field of interior architecture and has had a distinguished career in interior design, real estate, and management with architecture firms SOM and Gensler. At Gensler, she was influential in developing the Houston firm’s international presence, founding offices in New York, London, Boston, and Washington, D.C. Among her interior architecture work were Houston’s Pennzoil Place, as well as work with Goldman Sachs, Mobil Oil, Bank of America, and many others. Her career and the history of Gensler are well documented in her extensive archives, which measure some 150+ linear feet. The papers also include significant documentation of Ms. Walsh’s personal silver collection and related exhibitions.

This is a one-year position in the Special Collections department of University Libraries.
