    The Ransom Center is an internationally renowned humanities research library and museum at The University of Texas at Austin. Its extensive collections provide unique insight into the creative process of writers and artists, deepening our understanding and appreciation of literature, photography, film, art, and the performing arts. Visitors engage with the Center's collections through research and study, exhibitions, publications, and a rich variety of program offerings including readings, talks, symposia, and film screenings.

    Purpose:

    As a member of the Public Services team and reporting to the Head of Fellowship and Instructional Services, coordinate the daily and logistical operations of the Center’s Instructional Services program, which welcomes more than 400 undergraduate and graduate in-person and virtual classes a year. In collaboration with the Instructional Services team and other Ransom Center colleagues, work with University of Texas faculty to provide innovative and student-centered instruction using the Center’s vast collections in support of course learning objectives. Cultivate relationships with under-served departments and communities as well as identify underutilized collections to encourage the instructional use of Ransom Center collection materials and increase the research component built into coursework.

    Salary Range: $47,500.00 (Non-negotiable)

    Responsibilities:

    • As part of a close and dynamic team, work creatively, collaboratively, and efficiently to coordinate all of more than 400 in-person and virtual class sessions annually by assisting with scheduling; corresponding with and orienting faculty; and supporting faculty and students in conducting primary source research in the Reading and Viewing room and in virtual instructional sessions.
    • Provide a welcoming instructional environment that centers belonging, inclusion, and accessibility, while also safeguarding collection materials.
    • Relate Ransom Center collections to faculty's curricular needs, design and deliver student-centered instructional sessions that interpret the Center's collections in ways that demonstrate a commitment to pedagogy that is inclusive, draws from diverse collection materials and scholarship, and prioritizes active learning strategies.
    • Collaborate with the Head of Fellowship and Instructional Services to implement strategies for engaging the campus community. Represent the Ransom Center to UT students and faculty, as well as local and national audiences of students and educators by participating in outreach and social media activities; creating educational resources; and encouraging collaborations between Center staff, students, and faculty.
    • Develop assessment strategies to ensure the instructional program is meeting strategic goals.
    • Stay engaged and informed of best practices related to teaching with primary sources. Plan professional development sessions for Ransom Center colleagues involved in Instructional Services. Participate in professional service organizations engaged in teaching and learning with primary source material.
    • Participate in recruitment, training, and mentoring a diverse group of departmental graduate student teaching fellows and undergraduate interns.
    • Serve as a member of the public services staff, providing service in the HRC Reading and Viewing Room and staffing service points with occasional Saturday hours.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Teaching or teaching assistant experience in higher education.
    • Knowledge of and/or experience with primary source pedagogy.
    • Master's degree in the Humanities, Library and Information Science, Education, or a related discipline.
    • At least one year of experience (including internships) coordinating operations, activities, and outputs in a university, library, museum, community organization, or similar setting.
    • Attention to detail with ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects concurrently.
    • Outstanding team orientation, flexibility, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
    • Commitment to pedagogy that is inclusive, engaged with current scholarship and practices, culturally-responsive, and relies on active learning strategies.
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in writing and in oral presentations.

    Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • At least three years of experience (including internships) coordinating operations, activities, and outputs in a university, library, museum, community organization, or similar setting.
    • Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of archival, library, or museum work, through research, coursework, or work experience.
    • Speaking and writing fluency in Spanish.
