    Artpace San Antonio is a nonprofit residency program that supports regional, national, and international artists in the creation of new art. As a catalyst for artistic expression, we engage local communities with global art practices and experiences.

    The Digital Archivist and Programs associate is a full-time, 35-hour/week position. The schedule is 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday-Friday and as required to include occasional evenings and weekends for after-hours events. This is a salaried position and reports to the Residencies and Exhibitions Manager. This is a salaried position with generous benefits in a supportive and inclusive work environment. Salary is based on experience with a range of $36,000 to $42,000

    The Digital Archivist is responsible for managing Artpace’s digital assets, physical objects, and administrative duties related to Artpace’s operations including residencies, exhibitions, and public programs. The position manages Artpace’s institutional archive, both physical and digital, by following best practices for the care of a collection of books and catalogs, videotape, photographs, film, paper, and other resources related to the cultural and organizational history of Artpace.

    Job Duties

    • Manages digital library and archive systems including cataloging databases, content management systems, and digital archiving tools
    • Manage content and database for the artpace.org website
    • Prepare assets and operate livestream equipment for public programs
    • Coordinate photo and video documentation of Artpace exhibitions and events; receive, process, catalog, and conserve images and video files
    • Ability to interface with Work with Artpace vendors for IT, website maintenance, photography.
    • Oversee Artpace’s Record Retention Policy and Procedures, train staff on procedures related to records retention and digital file management
    • Create and input cataloging records for new archive material and Artpace collections
    • Fulfill requests for images and onsite research by coordinating meetings and assisting researchers in the Artpace Archive and Resource Library
    • Assist staff in identifying, locating, and properly using images and other collateral for internal and external projects
    • Accession, organize, catalog, and re-shelve Artpace’s library collection.
    • Manage Artpace’s library periodical subscriptions
    • Maintain inventory of technology equipment, train staff on proper operation of technology, and keep log of equipment check-outs
    • Prepare presentations and on-screen content for programs and meetings
    Required Skills and Experience
    • Master’s degree in Library Science preferred or a bachelor’s degree in a closely related field from an accredited college or university, plus three years of related experience.
    • Demonstrated ability to work digitally with Word Press website
    • Understanding and familiarity with digital security, networking, backup and recovery systems, hardware monitoring, and inventory.
    • Fluent with MAC based computers and network, Office356, and full suite of included applications
    • Assist with aspects of program administration including visa petitions, letters of agreement, correspondence, and scheduling/calendars
    • Passion for art a must; demonstrated experience working in a professional creative environment preferred
    • The ability to read and write in English and Spanish is preferred but not required
    • Detail-oriented team player with a sense of humor
