Purpose:
Under the supervision of the Manager for Archives Cataloging, this position will arrange, describe, and catalog 19th - 21st century manuscript collections from the Center's literary, film, and performing arts holdings.
Responsibilities:
- Identifies, houses, arranges, and describes archival materials in a variety of formats including born-digital. Consults with curatorial staff as needed.
- Using DACS and other standards, creates and edits descriptive XML finding aids using Oxygen and EAD. schema. Catalog collection-related audiovisual material at the item level in the Center's content management system.
- Identifies conservation needs and performs minor preservation tasks. Consults with Preservation and Conservation staff as needed.
- Performs limited indexing of assigned collections using Library of Congress Authorities and other sources.
- Participates in the planning and execution of departmental projects.
- Stays abreast of professional issues and tools related to archival processing and engage in campus, regional, and national scholarly and professional organizations and activities.
- Public service or reference work, including occasional Saturday hours.
Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in Library or Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution with an emphasis on archival coursework or training.

Demonstrated experience working with archival materials in a variety of formats, including born-digital records.

Knowledge of and experience with relevant descriptive standards for archival collections (DACS, EAD, LCSH, AAT, etc.).

Familiarity with preservation and conservation methods applied to archival materials.

Knowledge of current and emerging trends, issues, workflows, standards, and best practices in archives and special collections.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).

Detail oriented with ability to organize and prioritize tasks.

Outstanding team orientation, flexibility, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Salary Range:
