    The History Center invites dynamic, innovative, and service-oriented individuals to apply for an archivist position. The archivist will work with a senior archivist and other staff to provide leadership in processing and preserving the Center’s archives, manuscripts, photographs, maps, library, and digital and audio/video materials. Responsibilities include collecting, appraising, accessioning, arranging, describing, preserving, providing public access and reference and research services, assisting in the design and preparation of exhibits, providing occasional tours and other educational programs, assisting in managing the Center’s website and online collections, and performing other duties as assigned.     Requirements include a master’s degree from an accredited school with a major in history, government, library/information science or related discipline; coursework in archival administration; experience in the arrangement and description of archives and manuscripts; excellent communication skills; and at least one year of full-time professional work experience working with archival collections.

     

    Preferred qualifications include experience with digital projects and database management applications; work experience in a public history environment, especially in the arrangement and description of archives and manuscripts; cataloging skills and experience; demonstrated knowledge of historical research methodology and Texas history; and archival certification.

     

    Salary: $45,000 - $52,000 annually, commensurate with experience, with excellent benefits.
