    As the Oral History Archivist you will join an enthusiastic team of innovative individuals who contribute to achieving the strategic goals of the Oklahoma Oral History Research Program (OOHRP).  In this newly established position, you will provide leadership in the areas of collection management, preservation, and discovery of oral history resources. This position will report to the Head of the OOHRP but will work closely with other faculty and staff in the Library. This is a tenure track position with anticipated initial appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.

     

    The Oklahoma State University Library seeks forward-thinking, creative librarians, curators, and archivists with a passion for oral history access and engagement who are eager to drive their own projects, innovate, and take on challenges.     Required Qualifications

    • ALA-MLIS or Master’s in a related discipline and professional archives/library experience
    • Leadership and management excellence
    • Knowledge of metadata standards and controlled vocabularies
    • Experience and knowledge of relevant archival standards for digital audio and video material
    • Experience managing oral history or ethnographic archival content

     

    Desired Qualifications

    Experience in the following areas:

    • Creatively curating digital audio and video content
    • Digital humanities or digital history and the digital preservation life cycle
    • Archival content management systems and building ethnographic collections
    • Management and implementation of rights statements pertaining to oral history work

    A successful Oral History Archivist will possess strong organizational and leadership skills; excellent communication ability; collegiality and excellent interpersonal skills; and an appreciation for diverse constituencies.

     

    Compensation Package

    You will be offered a competitive salary (minimum $55,000 for 11 months) and benefits package in an area that enjoys a low cost of living. The package will include a generous holiday schedule and leave accrual. You will be offered start-up funding for research or travel, have access to a full communication team to help develop and deliver your message, and have the flexibility to cultivate programming from the ground up.
