Pikes Peak Library District (PPLD) is searching for a Regional History and Genealogy Division Head to lead district-wide programming, publishing, and services for a public library system that serves nearly 700,000 residents in El Paso County, Colorado. PPLD was recently named the #1 Best Workplace for an Extra Large Company in Colorado Springs by the Gazette, our local newspaper, and U.S. News and World Report ranked Colorado Springs No. 2 in the 2018 Best Places to Live stating that the area is “filled with natural wonders, . . . hundreds of miles of hiking and biking trails,” and that it has a “quaint downtown.”

The Regional History and Genealogy collections are located in the restored 1905 Carnegie Library at Penrose Library in downtown Colorado Springs. The collections attract 40,000 researchers annually and include historic books, pamphlets, maps, photographs, motion picture films, family papers, business records, and audio and video recordings.

A description of PPLD’s Regional History and Genealogy Division Head position and application information are available at https://ppld.org/jobs .  The starting hourly wage is $31.54 and the position is open until filled, with preference given to applications received by May 28, 2018. Tim Blevins, the supervisor for this position, will be attending the SSA annual meeting if you wish to visit with him about this opportunity.
