    Digital & Institutional Archivist

     

    Reports To:              Director DRC and Curator of Archives

    Department:           Curatorial/Archival

    Status:                       Full-Time, Exempt, salaried with specific benefits

    Hours:                        8am to 5pm / Monday-Friday with some weekends and evenings

    Salary Range:         $35,000 - $40,000 based on experience

     


    POSITION SUMMARY: 

    The Donald C. & Elizabeth M. Dickinson Research Center (DRC) houses the Museum’s archival collections and research library. The Institutional & Digital Archivist will manage and process institutional records; acquire, process, catalog, and preserve physical and electronic acquisitions; assist DRC patrons and Museum staff in person and via electronic requests; and address the preservation needs of the physical and digital collections.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Manages and processes institutional records.
    • Accession and processes textual, images, sounds, and digital collections using current national standards and best practices; create finding aids.
    • Facilitates all internal and external rights and reproductions requests.
    • Digitizes collections for Museum use and patron use.
    • Promotes the DRC as a resource and develop gallery and online content from collections.
    • Manages volunteers and interns.
    • Performs other duties as assigned or as needed.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Master of Library Science or Archives and Records Administration with 2-3 years demonstrated experience in archives, special collections, or library; OR Bachelor’s in related field with 5+ years demonstrated experience in archives, special collections, or library.
    • Familiarity with digitization and scanning experience.
    • Ability to prioritize daily tasks and projects to maximize efficiency.
    • Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication, including public speaking.
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Critical thinking skills and excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work well with others and maintain professional manner using tact, initiative, good judgment, and confidentiality.
    • Deadline driven and ability to prioritize competing tasks, while maintaining efficiency.
    • Must have a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License
    • Ability to lift 40lb boxes, bend, squat, climb ladders and kneel.
    • Ability to see color and have visual acuity
