Advocacy is and ever will be a key component of our job as archivists. Unfortunately, it is an area of archival work that often is given short shrift due to the combatting needs of the many other tasks that our jobs ask of us.

Many of you may find this recent webinar from CoSA to be of interest. Here is the summary pulled from the YouTube link:

Promoting archives and archival work is often a fluid and dynamic process. Archives need to be flexible and act quickly in response to developing situations. One key to successful advocacy is having access to great resources that can be molded to fit differing needs. Drawing on the experience and skill of our members, CoSA has developed a variety of such resources. This webinar is designed to review those resources and how you can tailor them for your state and your needs. Attendees will be encouraged to share their experiences, internal resources, and advocacy needs.
