I'm Michael Barera, a relatively recent graduate of the University of Michigan School of Information (2014) and a new archival professional working at Texas A&M University-Commerce who successfully passed the Certified Archivist examination last year.  I have plenty of advice on studying for the exam, as well as the study materials I created and used while preparing for it, that I'd love to share with anyone who is interested.  In addition to earning certification, I found that simply studying for the exam was a really good way to comprehensively review and reinforce fundamental archival knowledge and skills.

If you are interested in taking the CA exam this year, or would just like my perspective on or study materials relevant to early-stage professional development, please don't hesitate to contact me.  I'd additionally be happy to talk about the value of the CA designation as I see it, and/or why I made the decision to study for and take the exam.  Please contact me by e-mail: michael@michaelbarera.net
