    Job summary

    The Anthropology Section of the University of Colorado Museum of Natural History is seeking a full-time archivist to facilitate project activities on two successive grants, one from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC) and one from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS).

    Appointment & Salary

    This appointment is a temporary position funded through the summer of 2025, with an annual salary range of between $55,000-58,000 per year, commensurate with experience and with the possibility of renewal. The position is full time and eligible for benefits.

    Required Qualifications

    The successful applicant should have either:

    • An ALA-accredited Master’s degree in Library and Information Science, OR
    • A Master’s degree in Archival Studies, OR
    • A Master’s degree in Public History with a focus or concentration in archives management, OR
    • A Master's degree in Museum and Field Studies

    In addition to:

    • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in arrangement, description, and preservation of manuscripts and multi-format archival collections including paper and photographic materials.
    • Knowledge of best practices and workflows for digitization of archival materials.
    • Experience operating equipment and tools used in digitization such as flatbed scanners, cameras, and Adobe Photoshop.
    • Experience creating records in ArchivesSpace and authoring finding aids that meet minimum standards for DACS multilevel description.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage complex schedules and meet deadlines.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience processing born-digital materials and legacy electronic media.
    • Experience applying the Protocols for Native American Archival Materials in managing collections with culturally sensitive records.
    • Prior work with archaeological field notes and records.
    • Prior work in museum archives or museum collections management.
    • Authorship of protocol documents for archival processes such as processing and digitization.
    • Experience supervising students.
    • Experience creating and editing records using museum collections management software.
