    Description:

    Gain practical professional experience in a special-format academic library! The University of Colorado Boulder Libraries is looking for an Apprentice that will work onsite to process additions to the Zalman M. Schachter-Shalomi papers, housed in the CU Boulder Libraries Archives (part of Rare and Distinctive Collections). Under the supervision and instruction of the Senior Processing Archivist, the Apprentice will re-house the addition, create a processing plan, and generate an inventory for the additions. Training will be provided on archival processing strategies, archival description, and finding aid creation. The apprentice will gain experience with the Libraries collection management database ArchivesSpace, finding aid creation, and arrangement strategies.

    Qualifications:

    • Currently enrolled in an MLIS program and will be for the duration of the apprenticeship.

    • Interest in pursuing a career in academic librarianship.

    • Demonstrated ability to work independently and productively.

    • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and oral/written communication skills.

    • Experience with the study of Jewish history, the Jewish Renewal movement, or religious history may enhance candidacy.

    Additional Information:

    This program begins in late January 2024 and runs through early May of the same year. The Apprentice is expected to complete approximately 115 hours of onsite work sometime during CU’s spring semester (approximately 7-8 hours per week if stretched out over the semester). The Apprentice will be paid $17.50/hr, up to $2000 for the semester. The Apprentice will need to work between 9-4  M-Th.  For full consideration, apply by January 1st, 2024.
