This paid internship at the BRIT Library provides valuable experience in collection
arrangement, processing, preservation, digitization, and description.
Duration: 10 weeks (September 30 - December 6, 2024)
Hours Per Week: 10 hours/week
Compensation: $15/hour

Primary Goals of Internship:
The internship will focus on the archival collection of American botanist, Sherwin Carlquist,
working with his collection of field notebooks and index envelopes.
Intern duties and responsibilities:
● Digitize, encapsulate or rehouse archival objects
● Transcribe metadata from archival objects to spreadsheets
● Enter metadata information into the UNT Portal to Texas History database
● Collaborate and work with BRIT Library staff
Required education and experience:
● Proficiency with Google Workplace, particularly Google Sheets.
● Fluency with computers and familiarity with databases.
Additional eligibility qualifications:
● Ability to read cursive
● Attention to detail, independent thinking and ability to work alone
● At least 18 years old; background checks are conducted.
