The Society of Southwest Archivists will host its virtual annual meeting from May 1st through May 3rd, 2024. Although we have no physical, in-person space in which to meet, we still have the opportunity to share our work virtually from our own communities, workplaces, and homes. The theme this year is “DO NOT DEPLETE: Creating Sustainable Solutions in LAMs”. This theme emphasizes sustainability in all its many forms. There are four main areas of sustainability - Human, Social, Economic, and Environmental - all of which are reflected in the archival and archives-adjacent professions.

A Workshop on Handling Sensitive Materials in Archival and Digital Collections

This workshop will focus on the thoughtful remediation of sensitive materials in physical and digital collections. Participants will have a chance to examine materials from libraries and archives and discuss various repartive tools that may be applied.

An Introduction to Transcribing, Annotating, and Publishing Your Document Collections

This workshop will focus on transcription, annotating, and/or digitally publishing materials. Participants will be introduced to methods and considerations for making collections more visible.
