Presenter Bio: Ari Negovschi Regalado, TAMI’s Technical Director, will be leading this workshop. Ari brings over a decade of experience working with archival media in academic, commercial, museum, and nonprofit settings. She holds a Masters in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Bachelor of Fine Art in Film and Video from California Institute of the Arts. Description:  The Texas Archive of the Moving Image is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving film and video footage that highlights Texas. With their innovative Texas Film Round Up Program, TAMI is building one of the most extensive publicly accessible community-sourced archives featuring a vast collection of home movies, commercial films, television footage, and much more.

TAMI's mission includes educating Texans about the historical significance of moving images. This workshop aims to help researchers, historians, and community members overcome their nervousness about working with archival films and videos, and become confident in their ability to preserve these media formats. By attending this workshop, participants will gain the knowledge and skills needed to become DIY media archivists. Attendees will learn how to identify, assess, and evaluate media they encounter in their research.
