Hurricane Laura update

Hello all. I wanted to give you an update on the McNeese Archives after Hurricane Laura. The good news is that the archives collections are completely fine. There's no power, of course, but the facilities department is working right now to seal the building and run dehumidifiers to get the environmental conditions to an acceptable level.

We are part of the larger McNeese Library. The Government Information Department, which is on the top floor, sustained some damage and about 10 percent of the materials got wet and are being dried right now.

The parish officials are reporting that we will probably not have power for at least a few weeks. I'm evacuated with my family in Houston at the moment. We are all fine.

Thank you all so much for your care and concern.

Thanks for this update, Pati -- I've been thinking about you! Glad you are safe in Houston and that the collections are unharmed and being looked after. Stay safe!
