Working with Digital University Records
Chair: Ryder Kouba, University of Houston
Digital materials are growing and trends are changing by the day. How are university archives keeping up? Panelists from a variety of educational institutions tackle the digital archives puzzle and its specific challenges to university archives. Topics discussed: records management and how to retrieve, process, preserve and make accessible born‐digital assets; developing accessioning and processing procedures for digital materials received by university archives; how to develop digital collection projects using CONTENTdm, with no prior digital archiving experience; and challenges that web records can create when documenting university life and administration, including the interplay between technology and traditional archival appraisal theory.
