    The Gibson D. Lewis Library at the University of North Texas Health Science Center is seeking to hire a full-time Library Technician to join our team. The Archives & Records Management Technician works under the direction of the Records & Archives Manager to create and maintain intellectual control of University Archives collections and to support the daily operations of the University campus-wide records management program. This includes working with Electronic Records Management System (ERMS) software.

     

    Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED and three (3) years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

     

    Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications: Master’s degree in Library Science, Archival Studies, Museum Studies, or History. Coursework in archival administration and principles. Basic records management knowledge. Excellent written and verbal communications skills, ability to adapt to change, new systems and procedures. Ability to work in a diverse environment in a professional manner.

     

    • Assists with maintaining the University records management program, including management of and troubleshooting profiles, managing permissions related to the ERMS, and advising HSC employees and records management representatives on the records retention schedule and RRS codes.
    • Processes collections: accessions, arranges, rehouses, describes, and creates finding aids by applying description standards and best practices, such as DACS, to archival collections.
    • Digitizes and creates metadata for the archives photographic collection.
    • Manages Archives and other library social media accounts.
    • Provides reference services to internal and external researchers for archival collections and photograph requests.
    • Recognizes potential problems that may arise from working with unpublished and sensitive collections in areas such as copyright, privacy, confidentiality and ownership.
    • Practices cultural sensitivity considerations related to archival collections.
    • Assists with archives donation intake via deed of gift, accession record, and a collection management system.

     

    Salary information: $30,504-$48,804 + Commensurate with experience

     

    The Gibson D. Lewis Health Science Library serves the education, research, and patient care needs of all programs and individuals at the UNT Health Science Center and also serves as a resource library for the National Library of Medicine. Lewis Library also operates the library for JPS Health Network and provides administrative support to the South Central Academic Medical Libraries Consortium.
