    The University of Oklahoma Libraries seeks to recruit a Metadata & Systems Archivist. This position leads the management and creation of Special Research Collections metadata across multiple platforms to facilitate quality collection stewardship, to increase access to the Libraries’ distinctive physical and digital collections, and to advance innovative and transformative primary source research. Oversees the use and development of the Special Research Collections archival management system to advance efficient and standardized collection and metadata management practices. Leads the importing of standardized data to the Libraries’ archival collections management repository, converting legacy finding aids and related documentation into compliant, accessible, and shareable metadata. Leads the preparation of Special Research Collections material for digitization by creating and supervising the production of robust metadata to advance the discovery and transformative use of digital collections. Coordinates with DigiLab on workflows and metadata for digital collections, including data crosswalks. Leads and trains others in the use of archival collection management system to manage collection data and archival processes. Advances the Libraries' commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the areas of metadata, archival description, and digital collection-building. Represents the Libraries in consortia settings related to archival and special collections metadata.

    Job Requirements

    Required Education: Bachelor's degree, AND: 

    • 36 months of related experience in archival arrangement and/or records management.

    Departmental Preferences:

    • Master's degree in Library & Information Science with an emphasis on archives management.
    • Ability to code and script solutions to the bulk conversion of mixed metadata from multiple sources.
    Salary Range: Targeted salary $59,000 based on experience
