    The Southwest Collection at Texas Tech University’s Southwest Collection/Special Collections Library is seeking Unit Manager to implement procedures for and coordinate the acquisition, curation, and accessibility of their born-digital archival materials.

    Major/Essential Functions

    • Creating digital archiving workflows, procedures, and policies.
    • Arranging, describing, and providing access to born-digital archival collections and describing them into finding aids.
    • Collaborating on the acquisition and accessioning of born-digital materials.
    • Ingesting and migrating digital items from a variety of current and legacy media formats.
    • Providing training and guidance to SWC/SCL staff on preserving and migrating born-digital materials.
    • Retrieving, or assisting supervisor with retrieving, born digital collections.
    • Assisting reference staff by responding to requests from internal and external patrons.

    Required Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree plus three years supervisory experience; OR a combination of education and/or supervisory experience to equal seven years.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • ALA-accredited MLS degree or a Masters degree in public history or another humanities field with coursework in digital preservation, digital archives, or related subjects.
    • Digital Archives Specialist (DAS) certification.
    • Knowledge of or experience with professional archival standards, best practices, and technologies for accessing, arranging, describing, and preserving digital archival materials.
    • Experience with tools and software to ingest, curate, and deliver born-digital archival material, as well as transfer content from media such as hard drives, flash drives, floppy disks, servers, and others.
    • Experience with training colleagues, especially on technological tools, in a team-based environment.
    • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
    • Demonstrated ability to work creatively, collaboratively, and effectively with a team, sometimes across organizational boundaries.
    • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and decision-making skills.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

    Annual salary: $48,000
