Langdon Manor Books, LLC is seeking a full time cataloguer to work in our Houston area offices. If you get excited by our offerings, this job may be for you.

    Requirements:

    1. Bachelor’s degree, preferably in the humanities
    2. Outstanding writing skills
    3. A natural intellectual curiosity, especially as it relates to American history
    4. A willingness to work on material that may feel offensive, such as items related to hate groups
    5. A self-starting work ethic

    Desired, but not required:

    1. Experience in the rare book trade—regardless of experience, we look forward to mentoring
    2. Fluency in Spanish
    3. Outstanding research skills

Duties: researching and cataloguing rare printed and archival matter as well as administrative tasks such as packing/shipping, photographing items for sale, representing Langdon Manor Books at book fairs, and other things we discover you are good at as we grow this business.

About us: while our profession is antiquarian bookselling, we’re really in the business of selling compelling stories told through original materials such as diaries, photo albums and rare ephemera. Although we focus on American social movements, our interests in working with source material are actually quite broad and extend to a diverse array of subject areas including Texas and the Southwest, business history, outsider books and more. To learn more about us, please take a look at the catalogs on our website: https://www.langdonmanorbooks.com/catalogs.php

Salary: $30,000 per year (possibly more depending on experience) + opportunity for significant commissions after six months. After one year, opportunities may include attendance at educational seminars such as CABS or other rare book school offerings in the United States.

Please submit resume, references and writing sample to Adam Schachter at LangdonManorBooks@gmail.com
