    Central Archivist and Records Manager – Lubbock County Texas

     

    SUMMARY: Manages, coordinates and directs all duties required to provide records management services to County Departments, and to operate the Central Records Repository.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

    • Educates the public through outreach, public speaking and online exhibits.
    • Serves as an information consultant by coordinating with departments, elected officials and academic researchers. 
    • Performs inventories of active and inactive record storage areas.
    • Coordinates scheduling of records disposition and recommends records storage periods.
    • Creates indexes for internal and external uses for easy finding of records.
    • Plans, develops and administers the county archives. Develops, implements, and enforces policies and procedures to preserve, conserve, make available and ensure the security of records, which hold enduring value regardless of medium or format.
    • Ensures compliance with applicable state, federal and local laws and regulations. 
    • Provide training to departments offered by TSLAC, ARMA, NAGARA and SSA for compliance.
    • Identify endangered materials and propose a plan for preservation.
    • Develops, collects, analyzes and maintains statistics.
    • Performs administrative duties related to maintenance of the county archives, including assisting with the preparation of the developmental budget, the purchasing of supplies along with support in the life-cycle control of records. 


    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree required along with Certified Records Manager (CRM) and/or Certified Archivist (CA) certificates. Two years' experience in a related field preferred. 


    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Contemporary archival and records management principles and practices; ability to analyze and solve complex issues pertaining to archival methods and procedures; advance interpersonal, organizational, planning, project management, and oral and written communication skills; ability to recall/access rules regulations and laws relating to archives/records center and public record. Familiarity with the relevant office equipment, computer systems or other specialized software programs used to catalog, store and disburse archival records.

    Salary: $48,000 – 65,000
