Qualifications:

In addition to the basic education requirements, listed in the link above, you must have 1-year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service.
For GS-09:
Specialized experience must have demonstrated the ability to perform, supervise, or direct on or more of the functional areas of work covered by this series; to understand the concepts, theories, new developments, and co-relationship of information in related fields; and to maintain up-to-date information on the state of the art.
Examples of GS-07 level work may include: Experience working with historical relevance of special documents, photographs, data products, and publications necessary to fulfill a growing demand for documentation, archive, publication, and physical display of materials with significant historical nature; experience with English grammar and composition; experience with planetary sciences and related activities such that various services provided by incumbent contribute to successful archive and distribution of relevant products; experience in assembling products and preparing correspondence to meet requests from academia, government agencies, news media, scientific institutions, and the public; and experience handling, preserving, and digitizing archival documents, photographs, data products, and publications.
