Texas Historical Records Advisory Board Welcomes Submissions for the 2017 Archival Award of Excellence
The Texas Historical Records Advisory Board (THRAB) seeks submissions for its Archival Award of Excellence, an honor granted to archival institutions and individuals in Texas who have made significant achievements in preserving and improving access to historical records in any format.
THRAB is accepting nominations through September 15th, 2017 and will announce the recipients in October during Texas Archives Month. The award is funded by a 2017 State Programming Board grant from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission.
Additional THRAB initiatives include the production of the Texas Archives Month poster. Each year, the poster centers on a theme that spotlights collections or issues important to the archives community. Texas Archives Month aims to celebrate the value of Texas' historical records, to publicize the many ways records enrich lives, to recognize those who maintain historical records, and to increase public awareness of the importance of preserving historical treasures and making them available for use by present and future generations.
THRAB was established in 1976 by Governor Dolph Briscoe to fulfill two objectives. First, it enables the state to receive monies from the (NHPRC) in support of archival and records management programs. Second, it serves as a catalyst for improving archival and records storage conditions within the state.
