In 1925, Texas Tech’s first librarian, Elizabeth Howard West, decided to start putting items away and saving old ranching records. 

Today, her small collection has grown into the Southwest Collection/Special Collections Library, the most extensive historical repository in this region. 

To showcase the many collections and items in the archives, Lyn Stoll, lead archival associate at the SWC/SCL, organized the “Raiders of the Lost Archive” exhibit. The exhibit consists of items from each collection in the SWC/SCL that have never been displayed before.
