    Folks:

If you have strong opinions about the low pay in the archival profession like I do, please consider speaking with me at a Pop-Up session I am about to propose for the 2019 SAA annual meeting in Austin.  Proposals are due May 15th.

I intent to speak about my ideas I have put in my recent SSA newsletter articles, as well as review some statistics that show that archivists should be better paid when compared to the similar professions of attorneys, accountants, and IT professionals, and compared to national statistics on living expenses and housing by location.

I have located one other speaker so far, Talya Cooper, a digital archivist from NYC, who actually recently managed to unionize archivists in New York for better pay.

It would be easiest if you were already planning on attending the Austin meeting, since this speaking gig comes with zero financial support.

    Thanks,
    Mark
