Mark your calendars for an informal SSA/ACT welcome party for the Society of American Archivists annual meeting on Friday, August 2nd, 7-9pm at the dark but friendly King Bee Lounge on E. 12th Street. Top-notch cocktails, local beers and ciders, and many a non-alcoholic option are on offer. Delicious housemade pizzas will be supplied for your enjoyment by your friends at Archivists of Central Texas and the Society of Southwest Archivists.

The King Bee is a long, sweaty walk, or a short rideshare or taxi ride from the conference hotel. You can also pick up the #6 bus about half a mile from the hotel (at 7th and Colorado) and take it right to 12th and Chicon (https://www.capmetro.org/planner/). If you drive, park across the street in the little lot, on the street in front of the bar or back in the neighborhood. Austin doesn't have a lot of crime, but using the buddy system at night is a good idea no matter where you are.
