Hi, all! On behalf of Cathy Miller, the Chair of RAAC's Advocacy Subcommittee:

"In an effort to begin monthly communications with RAAC representatives about all things advocacy related, the RAAC Advocacy Subcommittee looks forward to highlighting existing advocacy resources, articles on advocacy, and any "of the moment" advocacy issues.

Advocacy for archives has never been more important than in 2020. The archives profession has been impacted directly by the COVID-19 pandemic. Not only have archivists rallied to document COVID-19 as part of our work, more important, we have rallied around one another in support of our fellow archivists who are experiencing financial hardship during this crisis.

As we head into 2021, set aside some time to reflect on advocacy work and how important it is to explain the value of the work we do as archivists. Explore the Society of American Archivists' advocacy resources at https://www2.archivists.org/advocacy, including the SAA Advocacy Guide, which was updated in July 2020 to include a new section on advocacy in your state and community. The Advocacy Subcommittee also encourages members to check out their regional organizations' websites, where there is often an entire page dedicated to advocacy resources."
