Presenter Bios:
Cody Ledvina is the Archivist at the Orange Show Center for Visionary Art in Houston, Texas where he manages the collections of an organization with a 43 year history of stewardship and advocacy of visionary art-built environments in Houston, as well around the US. He received his MA in Archival Studies at University College London.
Mary Manning holds master's degrees in English Literature and Library Science and has worked in special collections and archives for over twenty years. As the university archivist and curator of Performing Arts Research Collections at UH Libraries Special Collections, she values documenting the diverse history on campus and in the region. Manning has presented and published on libraries, archives, and Houston and regional music topics. She is honored to be a member of SSA’s Sustainability Committee and to work with her colleagues to implement a strategic plan for SSA sustainability focusing on environmental sustainability.
Dr. Erin Renee Wahl (she/her) is an associate professor and university archivist at New Mexico State University, and an adjunct lecturer for the University of Oklahoma's School of Library and Information Studies. Her research interests include library work environments, leadership in libraries and archives, qualitative research methods and original research in libraries and archives, and (of course!) sustainability in libraries and archives. Description:
Sustainability is a complicated but increasingly significant topic for archives. This virtual panel with break-out discussion groups offers an opportunity for archivists/archival practitioners to connect and collaborate on the greening of archival spaces and practices. Feedback and brainstorming are encouraged as we discuss the relationship of archives with the environment, challenges, solutions, and proactive vs. reactive measures
The workshop will be recorded and available on the SSA YouTube channel at a later date.
