    The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Library seeks applicants for the temporary (three years) faculty position of Digital Archivist to manage the Historical Research Center’s recently-created “Women of Color in Medicine” initiative, as well as other digital and oral history projects. The successful candidate will have experience in digitizing and working with various types of archival materials. Initially, this position will focus on providing physical and electronic access to the archival collections of former U.S. Surgeon General M. Joycelyn Elders, M.D. and Edith Irby Jones, M.D., the first African-American admitted to a Southern, white, public medical school, in addition to other complementary materials.
     
    Salary range is $47,000-$52,000, depending on experience. This is a three-year, non-tenure track, faculty appointment with a benefits package that includes 22 days of vacation, 11 holidays, and 12 days sick leave annually, and retirement plan options. The length of employment may be extended contingent on available funds.
