    The University of Texas at San Antonio Libraries is seeking applicants for the position of Archivist.  Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Special Collections, this position manages acquisition, appraisal, processing, description, storage, access, and preservation of Special Collections’ archival holdings.

    Responsibilities include accessioning, performing space audits, and tracking backlogs; processing collections according to collecting priorities; overseeing processing by support staff and students; assisting with reference; and participating in or coordinating team-based committees and projects.

    Minimum qualifications include an ALA accredited MLS degree with advanced course work in archival theory and methodology or a master’s degree in archival administration or a master’s degree in history or another humanities field with a concentration in or post-master’s certificate in archival administration. Successful candidates are expected to have a minimum six months demonstrated experience processing manuscript collections and preparing EAD finding aids. Candidates are also expected to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills; the ability to work with a team in a highly-collaborative environment; the ability to manage multiple tasks and complete work according to priorities and agreed-upon deadlines; and the ability to identify and assess preservation issues or conservation needs for archival materials regardless of format.

    Preferred qualifications include one year of full-time professional experience appraising and processing archives and creating finding aids; experience with CONTENTdm or other digital repository platforms; certification from the Academy of Certified Archivists; and Digital Archives Specialist coursework from the Society of American Archivists.

    Salary Range:  $50,000 - $55,000.  This is a full-time A&P, benefits-eligible position.

    Work Modality: Majority of work occurring onsite with the flexibility to occasionally telecommute if business need allows.
