Library Associate, Archives & Special Collection (Part-Time Temporary Position)
SALARY: $16 - $21/hour (commensurate with experience)
SCHEDULE: 18 hours per week

Description
Reporting to the Acting Associate Director of Archives & Special Collections (A&SC), the Library Associate, A&SC will accession, inventory control, process incoming collections, and keep accurate records of work. This position also provides reference services to researchers, re-shelves boxes and folders as needed, and provides scanning and photocopying services.
Brief Summary of Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides reference services to UHCL staff and researchers in locating and reproducing materials
- Processes collections as directed by the Acting Associate Director of Archives & Special Collections
- Prepares and maintains lists necessary to archival operations, creates computer records, database entries, and maintains all finding aids for archival collections
- Files folders, boxes, and incoming catalogued books
- Orders and tracks all archival and other office supplies
- Assists with managing and maintaining the archives in the absence of the Acting Associate Director of Archives & Special Collections, including making or deferring decisions, within policy guidelines
- Communicates with archives constituents and colleagues, including donors to the archives and the Johnson Space Center History Office
Required Qualifications
- Two years (sixty hours college credit hours) or Associate of Arts Degree
- Minimum one year experience working in archives, processing and providing reference
- Basic computer, phone, and photocopying skills; familiarity with MS Word, MS Excel, email, and databases
- Possess excellent oral and written communication skills to respond to researchers and staff
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to handle detail work with accuracy
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with the public and university staff
- Ability to multi-task a variety of projects
- Possess good record-keeping skills
