The Oklahoma State University Library seeks an ARCHIVIST to work in the Oklahoma State University Archives. We desire someone who is creative, has a passion for learning and teaching, and is eager to drive their own projects, collaborate, innovate, and take on challenges. As Special Collections departments move toward a reparative approach to their work, we especially encourage candidates who are interested in developing that model. The Archivist is a member of the OSU Library faculty reporting to the Archives Department Head.  This is a tenure-track position with anticipated initial appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.

Responsibilities: As an Archivist, you will contribute to achieving the strategic goals of the department through activities such as collection processing, reference work, digitization, metadata creation, collection promotion, and the development of exhibits and special projects, among other tasks. You will also supervise or help direct the work of student employees. In addition to undertaking traditional archival responsibilities, we seek an individual who can support and contribute to the research initiatives and scholarly endeavors of the University while reflecting current archival practices and also collaborate with both colleagues and community members on mutually beneficial projects.

The salary is a minimum $55,000 annually for an 11-month appointment with a generous holiday schedule, health care plans, and retirement options.  As a new library faculty member, you will receive start-up funding for research and/or professional travel and have access to the Library’s grant writer and development team as well as a full communication team.

Deadline: Application review begins on December 17, 2021 and continues until the position is filled. For consideration of your application materials, you should apply through the University’s website at https://hr.okstate.edu/employment-opportunities. Questions about the application process may be directed to David Peters, Archives Department Head, at david.peters@okstate.edu or (405) 744-6597.  Candidates will be asked to deliver a presentation to faculty and staff.  The successful candidate will be required to submit to a background check.
