    Why does the job exist?

    The Portal Coordinator ensures that the Native American Artisans Program (Portal Program) operates in a full, transparent and accountable manner consistent with 4.51.57 NMAC "Governance of the Portal Program at the Palace of the Governors State History Museum." The Coordinator also supports other aspects of museum operations that involve engagement with Native communities

    How does it get done?

    The Portal Coordinator serves as the Director's representative to the Portal Committee and oversees the program with that Committee. The Committee is made up of 1 o artisans elected by program participants on an annual basis. In this capacity, the Coordinator:
    (1) Serves as liaison between the participants and the Director.
    (2) Maintains the official records and files of the program.
    (3) Develops and schedules educational activities and events.
    (4) Issues written notices of suspension or termination for rule violations, as directed by the Portal Committee.
    In furtherance of these responsibilities, the Coordinator may also coordinate with the DCA Counsel General, develop initiatives to
    promote the program and program participants, and facilitate collaboration with other Native artisan programs.
    In a closely related function, the Portal Coordinator facilitates tribal consultation for the New Mexico

    Who are the customers?

    Primary beneficiaries are the Native American artisans who participate in the Portal Program. By extension, the Coordinator also serves the visiting public and the Museum of New Mexico Board of Regents under whose authority the program operates.

    Ideal Candidate

    (1) Experience working with Native Americans
    (2) Experience maintaining a large filing system and preparing documents with Microsoft Office Applications
    (3) Experience writing and tracking formal correspondence with response dates
    (4) Experience facilitating events and educational programs
    (5) Experience providing administrative support for a board of organization

    Minimum Qualification

    Associates Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or Accounting and two (2) years of directly related job experience in the areas of office administration, budgeting, purchasing, finance, accounting, auditing, cash management and/or contract management.
