The ability to safely handle and care for rare archival materials provided to the digital studio for scanning

Work effectively, consistently, and accurately with deadlines and rush requests

Operate digital cameras and scanners

Track image production and workflow

Communicates any workflow or system inconsistencies to the Lead Archivist when appropriate

Follow professional and locally developed guidelines and best practices

Consistently and accurately name image files

Assess digital image files for quality assurance purposes and identify images that need to be rescanned or photographed from their original formats
-
Judge and correct digital images for color balance, contrast, tonality, and density when compared to original objects, photographic prints, or transparencies
-
Organize, maintain, and properly store all analog and digital assets, including transparencies, negatives, photographic prints, and some video and audio files
-
Record and report production statistics and monitor milestones

Set up camera equipment and studio lighting equipment
-
Perform quality control reviews
-
Assist in the creation of inventories
-
Assist in the creation of metadata
-
Assist in the creation of various data entry
-
Write technical documentation in a clear and accessible style
-
Organize, archive, and file images for Client deliverables
-
Help maintain the lab and supplies
-
This person will actively engage in other Monocurate archival projects, such as archival processing and collection management functions, including describing digital and physical archival collections and assisting with other needs and projects.
Qualifications

A master’s degree in library and information science or a bachelor’s in an arts-related field such as photography and knowledge is preferred

A minimum of two years experience in an Imaging Technician or Photography role is highly desired, preferably at a museum, archive, library, or other arts-related or non-profit organization

Evidence of ability to exercise independent judgment within the scope of projects and assignments
-
Thorough understanding of digital still image file creation, including image sizing, bit depth, color profiling, image resolution, compression, and creating derivatives

Knowledge of digital cameras, monitor calibration, scanners, and lighting
-
Ability to use medium-format studio cameras
-
Familiarity with the Adobe Creative Cloud applications, specifically Photoshop, Bridge, and Lightroom
-
Familiarity with SilverFast
-
Familiarity with CaptureOne
-
Familiarity with Trello
-
Familiarity with Google Workspace
-
Ability to work on both Mac and PC
-
Maintain a manual and/or an automated recordkeeping system to identify, maintain, store, and control source documents and electronic records, and media
-
Knowledge of FADGI guidelines
-
Working knowledge of archival best practices, including file naming and professional standards and workflows
-
Knowledge of archival description

Ability to sit for long periods of time

Perform related duties as assigned

Must be flexible and enjoy working both collaboratively and independently and learning new technology

Must have reliable transportation and valid Driver's License (Required)
