    POSITION DESCRIPTION

    Digital Projects Assistant

    Department: Research Services
    Title: Digital Projects Assistant
    Status: Part-time (Non-Exempt)

    Work Schedule:  20 hours per week (some nights and weekends may be required)

    Salary: $15.00 hourly


    Summary

    Under the supervision of the Digital Archivist, the Digital Projects Assistant will assist with the digitization of priority collections and objects, preparation of metadata, data entry for the Center’s collection management system (TMS), The Louisiana Digital Library and special projects as assigned.


    Primary Responsibilities

    • Digitization of materials according to professional standards,
    • Production of accurate metadata to accompany digital objects.
    • Record creation and data entry into Amistad's collection management system (TMS) and digital repositories.
    • Provides assistance in special projects as assigned.


    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree and at least one year of related experience in a LAM position (libraries, archives, museums)  or database/digital management.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe products and computer/technical skills.
    • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with staff and departments.


    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with creating and updating metadata and digital surveys.
    • Experience working with a collection management system.
    • Familiarity with basic archival practices, procedures and workflows.
    • Interest and/or knowledge of American racial and ethnic history.
