This position oversees the operation of the Southwest Arkansas Regional Archives (SARA), a branch of the Arkansas History Commission and State Archives, located at Historic Washington State Park. Responsibilities include: soliciting archival materials; supervising professional staff, volunteers and interns; processing archival collections; creating finding aids and other descriptive tools to promote public access; engaging in outreach activities; digitizing collections; and responsibility for the preservation and security of the collections. Reports to the State Historian (Director) of the Arkansas History Commission. Serves as agency liaison to the SARA Foundation Board.

Applicants must meet or exceed the following qualifications: The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in history or a related field; plus three years of experience in a museum or archival operation, or related area, including one year in a supervisory capacity.
