The Eugene McDermott Library seeks a service-oriented professional for its Special Collections Division. The Curator position will have responsibility for reading room services and general research assistance. The position will assist in the management of a wide array of rare and unique collections and facilitates access to materials such as printed books, journals, documents, media, and related items. The Curator will develop Special Collections through the acquisition of other materials to support the research and learning components of the University. The Curator will work directly with donors concerning the collections.
Collection strengths include the history of aviation, philately resources, rare botanical materials, and the University archives. The Curator should be knowledgeable about current and emerging archival trends and technologies. The curator will develop standards for digital archives and create exhibits about the collections. A successful candidate will be responsible for promoting the use of the collections through instruction events including course related tours, presentations to outside groups, and special departmental activities.
