    General Description: 
    Performs highly complex (senior-level) curatorial work. Work involves overseeing the acquisition, preservation, cataloging, and exhibition of collections and related material; performing research work; writing and reviewing articles for publication, all with an emphasis on the GLO Map Collection, and other related materials. May supervises the work of others. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Veterans, Reservist or Guardsman with an MOS or additional duties that fall in the fields of Air Force - 3H0X1 Historian or other related fields pertaining to the minimum experience requirement may meet the minimum qualifications for this position.     Essential Job Elements: 
    Provides excellent customer service (Researches information to solve customer service problems. Interprets and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Prepares, interprets, and disseminates information concerning agency programs and procedures. Research correspondence, compose, and type letters and forms, relaying information in a concise and neat manner) Conducts research related to collections and exhibits, with an emphasis on the GLO Map Collection, and related material. Includes being active with blog program, developing manuscripts for publication, and developing exhibition material. Conducts or organizes tours, workshops, and instructional sessions, with an emphasis on the GLO Map Collection, and archival holdings of the GLO. Responds to technical inquiries on exhibits, artifacts, displays, and GLO collections. Prepares reports and correspondence.

     

    Qualifications: 
    A graduate degree in History or Library and Information Science (MLIS), Public History, Geography, Cartography, geography, government, or a related field. Experience and education may be substituted for one another. Two (2) years training and experience in conducting research in primary and secondary sources.

     

    Preferred Qualifications: 
    Certified Archivist through the Academy of Certified Archivist (ACA) Experience creating museum exhibitions Experience in museum administration/practices Bilingual (English & Spanish)
