    CONTRACT ARCHIVIST POSITION

    AT&T Archives and History Center, San Antonio, TX

     

    Job Summary

    Opportunity to work at AT&T Archives and History Center. Selected professional will

    a)      conduct archival records content appraisal, Identify and ensure preservation of archival resources, and organize and develop tools that enable access to archival resources;

    b)      process, and catalog archival records;

    c)      respond as needed to reference and research requests concerning the history, technological innovations, and evolution of AT&T.

     

    Experience Qualifications

    • Minimum of one year of archives experience (institutional archives experience preferred)
    •  Strong oral and written communications skills
    • Time management and multitasking capabilities
    •  Computer skills, experience with database systems, familiarity with digitization workflows.

    Essential Functions

    • 80% - Review records backlog requiring archival content appraisal, identify records having archival significance; organize and establish classification schemes; house items in proper archival enclosures; develop finding aids.
    • 15% - Process and catalog specific collections previously accessioned.
    • 5% - Assist Corporate Archivist as needed with archival research requests.

    Education

    Master’s degree in history or information science (ALA accredited), with archival coursework.

     

    Useful Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

    • Archives research experience and problem-solving abilities.
    • Knowledge of American history and the telecommunications industry.
    • Interpersonal skills in dealing with clients at all levels, both inside and outside AT&T.
    • Familiarity with legal issues affecting access, restrictions, intellectual property rights.
    • Experience with social media content creation.
    • Ability to regularly lift 40-lb. boxes
