    GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

    The Infrastructure Division provides design and construction project management expertise for the repair and development of all built environment facilities for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. 

    This position is responsible for performing (journey-level) archival work, involving collecting, organizing, analyzing, and preserving records; preparing inventories, indexes, guides, and aids to facilitate access to information; and conducting research.  Responsibilities include managing records for a government agency, processing and archiving architectural projects, analyzing and developing best practices for information management. May on occasion digitize large format architectural drawings.  Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.  Performs additional duties as assigned.  Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures.

    QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES:

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    Education:

    • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree and major course work in Information Sciences, Government, History, Library Science or closely related field.

    Experience:

    • One year experience in responsible records management or archival work.

    Licensure:

    • If driving is required, applicant must possess a valid State driver's license.

    ACCEPTABLE SUBSTITUTIONS:
    Education:

    • One additional year of the required experience, may substitute for 30 semester hours of the required education with a maximum substitution of 120 semester hours.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    Experience:

    • Six months full-time (paid or volunteer) information management experience in an office, library, museum, or archive;
    • Experience working with architectural and engineering drawings and files. 

     

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Knowledge of professional archival methods, practices, procedures, and standards;
    • Knowledge of digital archiving concepts for digital preservation of a variety of file formats;
    • Knowledge of records management issues and processes;
    • Skill in using MS Word, Excel and Outlook;
    • Skill in effective verbal and written communication;
    • Skill in processing paper and electronic documents;
    • Skill in following records retention schedules;
    • Skill in organizing large quantities of information;
    • Skill in using personal computers;
    • Skill in using archival software;
    • Skill with time management and multi-tasking;
    • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with co-workers and work-related contacts;
    • Ability to process archival collections;
    • Ability to interpret archival records;
    • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision;
    • Ability to accurately follow instructions;
    • Ability to work as a member of a team;
    • Ability to perform manual labor including, lifting supplies and materials up to 40 lbs.;
    • Ability to conduct work activities in accordance with TPWD safety program. 

     

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    • Required to work from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday;
    • Required to work overtime as necessary;
    • Required to perform manual labor including, lifting supplies and materials up to 40 lbs.;
    • May be required to operate a State vehicle;
    • Required to travel 5% with possible overnight stays;
    • Must conform to TPWD dress and grooming standards, work rules and safety procedure;
    • Non-smoking environment in all State buildings and vehicles.
