    GENERAL DESCRIPTION

    An archiving internship opportunity is available within the Infrastructure Division, which provides design and construction project management expertise for Texas Parks and Wildlife Department facilities. Under the supervision of the Infrastructure Archivist, this internship will primarily focus on digital archiving efforts. This is also an excellent opportunity for students interested in government archiving or records management to gain relevant work experience. Work opportunities include building upon and populating a Digital Asset Management System (DAMS), managing records for a government agency, and analyzing current practices for information management efforts within the Infrastructure Division. May on occasion process and archive construction project records. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education:
    Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student in an accredited college or university; Minimum of 18 completed semester credit hours from an accredited college or university at time of application; Must have an overall grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 grade point scale or "Pass" on a Pass/Fail system.

    Experience: None required.

    Licensure: If driving is required, applicant must possess a valid State driver’s license.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education:
    Current enrollment in a graduate level program for Information Science, Library Science, Public History or related field.

    Experience: Six months full-time (paid or volunteer) information management experience in an office, library, museum, or archive; Evidence of digital archiving experience based on coursework or projects.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
    Knowledge of archival concepts including original order, processing and accessioning records; Knowledge of digital archiving concepts for digital preservation of a variety of file formats; Knowledge of records management processes and the records life-cycle; Skill in processing paper and electronic documents; Skill in digital preservation practices; Skill in following records retention schedules; Skill in using MS Word, Excel, Outlook; Skill with time management and multi-tasking; Skill in effective written and verbal communication; Skill in establishing and maintaining effective work relationships with co-workers and work-related contacts; Ability to organize large quantities of information; Ability to conduct research on information management solutions; Ability and interest to learn about architectural records; Ability and interest to learn about agency's history; Ability to work cooperatively with others; Ability to communicate effectively; Ability to perform manual labor including, lifting supplies and materials up to 40 lbs.; Ability to conduct work activities in accordance with TPWD safety program.

    WORKING CONDITIONS
    Required to work between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday; Must conform to TPWD dress and grooming standards, work rules and safety procedures; Required to perform manual labor including, lifting supplies and materials up to 40 lbs.; May be required to operate a State vehicle; Non-smoking environment in State buildings and vehicles.
