My name is Deborah Kloiber and I am the archivist at Connecticut College.  I'm writing on behalf of a faculty member in our Hispanic Studies department who is planning a trip to New Mexico (primarily Albuquerque and Santa Fe) in August.  She is interested in the arts and culture of indigenous and Spanish communities from colonial times to the present and looking to make contacts at institutions with relevant archival or museum collections.

At this point she's in an exploratory stage and casting a wide net, with the goal of discovering something that piques interest for her next research project.  Some of the subject areas she mentioned to me are: indigenous slavery, folk art, colonial churches (especially sacred images and/or the languages spoken), and santero art (both the art itself and how it may have been incorporated into literature).

I've already sent her a list of some of the major collections I could find, but it would be great to give her specific people to contact.  If you work with or know of collections that could be of interest to her and wouldn't mind her getting it touch, please let me know.  You can reach me at dkloiber@conncoll.edu or 860-439-2686.
