    Dear Colleagues,

The 2015 Annual meeting in Cleveland is quickly approaching. We are once again calling for volunteers to provide career counseling-to give advice on resumes and to answer questions about specializations and your experiences as an archivist. We are grateful to those of you who have given your time in the past to help make the SAA career center a success.

For the 2015 conference the Career Center will be open:

    Wednesday, August 19: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm [volunteers needed for 12:00-1:30 pm; 3:00-5:00 pm] Thursday, August 20: 7:00 am - 5:00 pm [volunteers needed for 1:00-3:00 pm] Friday, August 21: 7:00 am - 5:00 pm [volunteers need for 11:00 am-1:00 pm] Saturday, August 22: 7:30 am - 9:30am [volunteers needed for 7:30-9:30 am]

If you are planning on attending the conference, please consider volunteering an hour (or two) of your time. The preliminary program is available at http://www2.archivists.org/am2015/program/preliminary-program .

If you would like to participate as a counselor in the SAA Career Center this year, please review the program, and then send me a few potential time slots when you would be available to volunteer. You can contact me directly at mclowe@wisc.edu<mailto:mclowe@wisc.edu> . Please respond no later than July 6th, 2015.

The 2015 career center will offer:

    - Reference copies of publications on career related topics

    - Opportunities to view career focused presentations given at past SAA conferences

    - Resume review by appointment (that's you!)

    - General career consulting by experienced SAA members (that's you!)

    - A Funders Corner where attendees can engage in conversations with national funding agencies

    - Opportunities to interact with council members and section and roundtable leaders

    - Digital preservation drop-in center for info on furthering a career in digital preservation

This year we are again offering resume review by appointment. Members who sign up for this service will be asked to send in a copy of their resume and two sample position announcements. These materials will be forwarded to their assigned advisor.

Advisors are asked to be onsite in the Career Center for a designated shift (one or two hours) to speak with attendees who would like advice on resumes or professional development. Often, once we publish a schedule of advisors, attendees plan to visit the Career Center at times when advisors of interest to them are staffing the tables. Additionally, attendees can make specific reservations with advisors to ensure they have time to speak with the advisor of most interest to them. Advisors are not required to participate in the by-appointment program. Please indicate your preference when volunteering.

I am looking forward to hearing from many of you, and I appreciate your willingness to give your time to help other SAA members succeed. If you have questions or suggestions, please feel free to email me.

If you are someone who is seeking to making an appointment with an advisor at the SAA Career Center, please look for a separate announcement with instructions for making an appointment early next month.

    Regards,

    Meredith Lowe

    SAA Career Development Subcommittee
