Hands-on Disaster Recovery Training for Book and Paper Collections

Individuals employed by a cultural heritage institution (library, archives, museum, historical society, etc.) are invited to participate in a one-day workshop to learn techniques for salvaging book and paper materials in the event of a disaster affecting your institution’s collections.

Rebecca Elder, principal of Rebecca Elder Cultural Heritage Preservation in Austin, Texas, will lead the workshop where attendees will learn about planning and preparation for disasters, drying techniques, soot damage stabilization, establishing salvage priorities, and stabilizing the environment and collections.

The workshop will be held at the Algiers Regional Library (3014 Holiday Drive, Algiers, LA 70131) on Wednesday, March 2, and will run from 10:00am to 4:00pm.

Please register at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/19Wp4rrh2lX8djsdZOE0hvhAJxPWNQxxMO5Sgy0WSdCU/viewform?usp=send_form or via the short URL athttp://goo.gl/forms/9yVlJLqEC2.

**Please note: participation is limited to 20 people. Institutions are asked to initially register one representative through February 25th. After that date, institutions will be able to register additional representatives for any remaining spots.

This workshop is sponsored by Tulane University and supported by a Preservation Assistance Grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
