Hotel

The conference hotel is the Sheraton Arlington, which overlooks Six Flags, the Globe Life Ballpark and AT&T Stadium. Built on the  grounds of the former Seven Seas marine life theme park, the Sheraton Arlington features extensive grounds, lush landscaping, a walking trail, a beautiful pool, and koi ponds. Meeting and vendor space is expansive, and the guest rooms are just $135 per night for up to four people.  The Sheraton Arlington hotel will provide complimentary wireless in guest rooms.

Rooms are available with either one king-sized bed or two double beds. The conference block for hotel rooms begins May 19 and allows departure on May 24.  The cutoff date for reservations is April 28. Reservations also may be made by phoning 800.325.3535 or 817.261.8200.

Transportation and Parking

The hotel provides a complimentary shuttle service between D/FW airport and the hotel between 6:30 am and 9:30 pm. Outside of those hours, the estimated taxi fare from D/FW is $35. Other shuttle options are Super Shuttle and GO Yellow Checker Shuttle, which also serve Love Field.  Self-parking at the Sheraton Arlington is free.

Events

Special events planned for the “Game On” annual meeting include a Wednesday evening poolside opening reception at the Sheraton Arlington hotel. Thursday will include a UT Arlington repository tour highlighting its newly completed state-of-the art cold storage vault, its new Fab Lab, and the exhibit “¡Viva Mexico! A Comic Book History of Mexico.” Friday brings an evening party at the International Bowling Museum with its four interactive bowling lanes, just a trolley ride from the hotel. (See museum layout.)

Transportation to UTA on Thursday afternoon will be by bus, but will be limited due to bus capacity.  One bus will make two circuits between the Sheraton Arlington and UTA.  More detail will be provided in the packets of attendees who registered for the repository tour.  Also, please watch this space for updates. Those wishing to drive personal vehicles to UTA may park in the Maverick Parking Garage directly behind the Central Library.  The hardy may wish to consider taking the trolley to downtown Arlington and connecting to the MetroArlingtonXpress (MAX), which stops at College Park Center on the east side of the UTA campus, and walking a couple of blocks from there to the Central Library.  Taxis are also an option. The Central Library's physical address is 702 Planetarium Place.  See map and link to directions.
